Also, a restroom etiquette question. If you go into a restroom that has multiple stalls, do you try to leave the handicapped one open? At my workplace, more often than not, people will always use the handicapped stall. Why? Why not keep it open for people with disabilities who might need it? It just seems rude to me to use the handicapped stall if there is a different one available.

I’d say it’s usually a non-issue since the number of abled people greatly outnumber the disabled people. Just like I find the handicapped parks are always empty.

It would be considerate to keep it free. It’s a bigger stall, but that should be of littler consequence to the average person.

Funny you mention handicapped parking spaces. My experience is that they are almost always full. And usually being used by someone who has no obvious disability.

In Finland the handicapped restrooms are very often separate unisex rooms outside the regular restrooms. Using them isn’t very bad if the others are busy/broken. The number of handicapped people is quite low here.
